Catch-up bookkeeping

However far behind you are, it is fixable

Months of unopened post. A bank feed nobody has touched since spring. A year-end your accountant keeps emailing about. We pick it up, quote a fixed price, and bring it current.

The honest bit

Nobody here is going to make you feel bad about it

Falling behind on the books is the most ordinary thing in small business. It happens because the work that pays came first, which is the correct priority right up until it is not.

We have opened files that had not been reconciled in three years. It is a job, not a judgement. The only thing that makes it worse is waiting longer.

  1. Tell us roughly how bad it is

A rough answer is fine. "About eighteen months, two bank accounts, VAT registered" is enough to start.

  2. We look at the file

Read-only access to Xero and your bank. Half a day of our time, no charge, no obligation.

  3. Fixed quote and a date

One number and a completion date, in writing. If we have underestimated it, that is our problem, not yours.

  4. We clear it

Typically two to four weeks. You get reconciled books, a handover pack for your accountant, and a list of anything we could not resolve without you.

Questions

What people worry about

What if I have lost some of the receipts?

Common, and workable. We reconstruct what we can from bank and card statements, flag what is genuinely missing, and tell you which gaps matter and which do not. You will get a clear list rather than a surprise at year end.

Will this get me in trouble with HMRC?

Bringing your records up to date is the opposite of getting into trouble. If the catch-up uncovers something that needs correcting — a late VAT return, an underpayment — we will tell you plainly and point you to your accountant for the filing side.

Do I have to sign up for monthly afterwards?

No. Plenty of people take the catch-up and carry on themselves, and that is a perfectly good outcome. Most choose monthly because they would rather not be here again, but it is not a condition.

How much will it cost?

Catch-up work starts at £600 and scales with the number of months and transactions involved. We will not quote before looking at the file, because a number pulled out of the air helps nobody.
